Overview
This reject system is used to select and reject containers at the hot end of an IS machine's conveyor belt. By combining the components described below, the concept can be used together with various IS machine controls as well as in standalone operation. The reject system is optimised for the IS machine control family made by futronic.
Light barrier unit
The light barrier unit consists of a transmitter module and a reflector module, each fitted with a heat shield. The transmitter and reflector are attached on either side of the machine conveyor belt by means of two special mounting brackets. The two modules are flushed with purified air via a compressed air connection to prevent dust from getting into the transmitter's optical system or the prism mirror and simultaneously cool the components. The built-in electronics permit even completely transparent objects, such as white glass containers, to be detected.
Reject unit
The structure and design of this unit ensure that containers identified for rejection are removed from the conveyor belt reliably and protect the pneumatic installations on the stand against heat damage. All components within the unit's pneumatic radius are rated for high limit speeds during the blow-out blast. Efficient operation is possible at any production speed up to 300 containers/min.
Hot-end distributor box
The hot-end distributor box has no control function and merely establishes the electrical connection between the light barrier unit, the reject unit and the IS machine control. Its structure and design reflect the harsh conditions prevailing in the IS machine's environment. It has LEDs to indicate the operating voltage as well as the light barrier and reject signals. It also incorporates a teach-in mode switch whose signal is evaluated by the machine control.
ASDR 2 hot-end distributor box
The ASDR 2 hot-end distributor box forms the heart of an autonomous hot-end reject system, which automatically detects and rejects fallen over containers or that have stuck together. The control system for this purpose is preinstalled and can be operated without having to open the box. An optional machine control allows containers to be rejected either by pressing a key on the section or automatically, e.g. after lubrication. In addition, the reject signal of an IS machine control can be corrected and the precision of the container reject process optimised. The structure and design of the box reflect the harsh conditions prevailing in the IS machine's environment.
